Start by marking “The Cross & the Prodigal: Luke 15 Through the Eyes of Middle Eastern Peasants” as Want to Read: After reading this book, I will never, ever look at the narrative of the prodigal son the same way again. The book is short, but packed full of information.

Verse 2. - Looking unto the Author and Finisher of our faith (rather, the Leader, or Captain, as in Hebrewsand Perfecter of the faith, or of faith - faith's Captain and Completer), Jesus; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The idea is not, as implied in the A.V. and understood by Chrysostom. Luke C. "Jimmy" Agan III. This week study walks readers through the Gospel of Luke, showing how the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ are just as relevant and important today as they were two thousand years ago.

I’m working through Luke’s gospel and focusing on Jesus’ thoughts regarding the kingdom of God. It’s fascinating to read through this “hermeneutical lens” because it’s hard not to separate the proclamation of the kingdom of God from some form of signs and wonders, specifically would seem that in Luke’s mind, Jesus’ demonstration of the kingdom of God was wrapped.

Luke 16 - NIV: Jesus told his disciples: “There was a rich man whose manager was accused of wasting his possessions. So he called him in and asked him, ‘What is this I hear about you.

Give an account of your management, because you cannot be manager any longer.’. Luke included the Emmaus road account (Luke ), no doubt, because it was a powerful testimony of the resurrected Jesus by two credible eyewitnesses (Cleopas likely would have been known to many first generation Christians).

But there is also something. You get the sense that Simeon had grown old very sweetly, never ceasing to seek the Lord and cling tightly to the priceless promise that one day God would put the hope of the world right before his eyes.

This year I’ve been particularly struck by the way Luke describes Simeon. He simply says, “This man was righteous and devout” (). I believe that there is great profit in reading consecutively through the whole Bible.

Don’t skip the hard parts and camp on your favorite sections. Read it all, over and over again. As you read, ask God to open your eyes to see Christ in all the Scriptures. (4). Seek the risen Savior in His Word through. Like St. Matthew, Luke derives much of his Gospel from that of St.

Mark, generally following Mark’s sequence and incorporating about 50 percent of Mark’s material into his Gospels of Luke and Matthew, however, share a good deal of material not found in The Gospel According to Mark, suggesting that the two evangelists may have had access to another common source.

Luke would be disappointed indeed if any of his readers were to say, ‘We had hoped’, because through his gospel story he has been teaching them how the Lord is always a personal presence, to be met with in the scriptures and the breaking of bread. The Church repeats this, explaining the scriptures and breaking the bread every time that she.Through eyewitness accounts, the Gospel of Luke documents how Jesus ministers to the poor, outcasts and others as He creates a new Israel and expands God's kingdom.

hope, joy, and love. In this episode we do a quick overview of the entire book, working through each of the sections, observing how they all fit together. In Through the Eyes of Hope Lacey Buchanan tells this compelling story of trusting God in the face of adversity.

You will be moved and inspired to hold on to God’s promises when things go wrong and find joy in midst of any storm.
